Support for professional integration
Prepare your professional project, define your skills, develop and promote them, know your environment, submit a job application, prepare a job interview...the doctoral school and the Graduate Research School offer a range of tools and people to help you pursue your career.
Training courses:
- Training courses offered by the Graduate Research School: there are many courses intended to provide transversal skills which will help students with their study program and ultimately in finding a job. In particular, the MAOIP (Support mission for career guidance and professional integration) is involved in the courses offered by the Graduate Research School providing 4 modules making up the “From PhD to employment” track.
Other suggestions:
- The University of Bordeaux MAOIP: sets out and implements the University’s policy on career guidance and help with professional integration.
- The actions of Talence Innovation Sud Développement (TISD): this organization supports local initiatives related to its aims of supporting the creation and development of VSE and SME and encouraging links between businesses and teaching institutions (Universities, Grandes Ecoles, etc.).
- ABG - Association Bernard Grégory: an association that encourages the training and employment of young scientists in laboratories, public institutions and businesses, in France and abroad.
- The annual job fair of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine APEC (national employment agency for executives) has a dozen exhibitors with hundreds of job offers.
- AquiDoc: this association represents PhD students and graduates in Aquitaine, from all disciplines, either individually or via their associations (member associations of AquiDoc), mainly by supporting their professional integration into the private sector.
- ANDès (National association of PhD graduates): the aims of this association are to promote doctorates, to put the talents of PhD graduates to the service of society, to create and synergize networks of PhD graduates.
Promoting the doctorate
There are many schemes/events to validate and promote the doctorate:
- An alumni network has been created via a dedicated Linkedin page https://fr.linkedin.com/showcase/edsp2-universitedebordeaux.
- ED thesis prize: as part of its policy to promote interdisciplinarity, the ED organizes a prize every year for an interdisciplinary thesis (awarded on the JED (Doctoral School Day)).
- University thesis prize: for its first edition, the graduation ceremony for PhD graduates of the University of Bordeaux was held on Saturday 11 January 2020, at the Pin Galant theatre in Mérignac. More than a thousand people attended, some travelling from a great distance, to share this symbolic moment.
- “My thesis in 180s” competition: 10h of training are offered to prepare for this national competition to promote the PhD.
